Being There 04:52
When none of this is real It needs to be seen with it's own eyes Otherwise it doesn't mean a thing, to anyone without you So, tell me about your dreams But give me more than details Inject it with meaning, transpose the "being there" None of this is real None of this is real

The Thief 04:22
It's cold It's colder than hell frozen over It's darker than death itself And far away from light Help myself Stealing all the life I find Anything exotic or divine You know we've all got a price Hey Shut Up! How dare you look at me from on High You know I used to have a life outside I know it's wrong, but the wall is just too high I know it's wrong, but what else could I... It's calm It hasn't been this lifeless for some time... I know it's wrong, but no one's got the time No one's got the time

Hello bright side, it's been quite some time Since I've had a reason to come by Tell me about what's changed on the outside How far did I fall behind? Hello bright side, it's been quite some time Though I still remember your faces Since when I was sent away For the crime of being strange Since when I was sent away For the crime of being Thank you panic, than you anxiety You were always there for me You were my brothers while the ground was caving in You showed me such compassion Since when I was sent away For the crime of being strange Since when I was sent away For the crime of being Goodbye passion and anger Hope we can remember Goodbye passion and anger Goodbye passionate anger

The Flood 03:30
Has he figured it out yet? Has he figured it out yet? Has he figured it out yet? There's no one else There's no one else There's nobody else

Last time, they gave us a black eye Last time, they forced us into exile Last time, it shattered my faith in life So maybe it's alright to think you don't remember then Maybe it's a chance to start again Maybe it's a blessing in disguise My Lovely Dark Eyes So maybe there's a time for us to make a change Maybe there's a time to be estranged Maybe all we need is time
7.
I used to pull my pants down on the schoolyard 'till they sent me away Made me talk to a stranger And tell him 'bout my "feelings" He told my mom about my tendency to daydream and escape into fantasies Where I was the King And I beheaded all my enemies Lately, I've been thinking 'bout those days I wonder what it means I wonder what it means

Daylight 06:58
You’re a shipwreck in the flood You’re a scene of when and what You’re a car crash in a field You’re a droplet in a stream Morning’s yet to come and who am I to judge what we’ve become what we’ve become I’m a novel in a fire I’m a thief and I’m a liar You’re a shipwreck in a field You’re the con I wish was real You're the only missing piece I'm a loser, I'm a thief Daylight's yet to come and who am I to judge what we’ve become what we’ve become

"It's a cold and dead and useless world." She whispers in my ear "We'll still be here tomorrow and the next day." "We're not going anywhere." "We're not going anywhere." When all space is the same It doesn't matter where you stand The change is only in your head "What's there left to talk about?" "What's there left to talk about?" Space ain't got no meaning anymore In places without borders The same is said for life and time and limitless anything anything We'll be around for quite some time We'll be around for quite some time

Miss Memory 05:45
You’re remembering things wrong You’re believing your own dreams You’re remembering things wrong You’re believing your own dreams Wake Up! Have you figured it out yet? The only person out to get you was yourself No one else You’re invisible and silent And that was your so-called "crime" You’re remembering things wrong You’re believing your own dreams Wake up! You’re not dead yet! At least for now the rules is this world still apply It’s how I’m here It’s how you’re hearing my voice That come from beyond the real You’re remembering things wrong You’re believing your own dreams Wake up! I could kill you with a thought! You can do this willingly or remain my paper doll It’s your call You’re remembering things wrong You’re believing your own dreams Wake up!

Leave You 06:02
I've gonna leave you behind There's nowhere else you can go So drift away before I change my mind Until the day you can forget me and let me go I'm gonna leave you behind I'm only holding you down So drift away while I remain in denial Undue the chains that keep you bound to this pitiful life This pitiful life
12.
I know it feels safer to be alone It won't be scary anymore It won't be scary anymore It'll be over soon You fooled yourself in how you saw the past It feels so foolish from afar It feels so foolish from afar It'll be over soon
13.
There's a riot underground Life is thriving in the oceans without us around When I woke up in a haze Can't remember who I was before I came around I'm just not satisfied anymore I'm just not satisfied anymore I've been looking for a sign I've been driven by intangible desires Something here I need to find Something guides me from the depths of my own mind I'm just not satisfied anymore I'm just not satisfied anymore There's a riot in my hands I tiny spark that's granted purpose to this tired man So lead the way, you're all I've got You set the goal but now the journey's just not good enough I'm just not satisfied anymore

about

It all started with a bad dream about the end of the world...

A Shipwreck in the Flood is a concept album, chronicling a character known only as "the thief" who lives in alone at the bottom of the ocean. One day, he is compelled to return to the surface, only to discover that the world has completely flooded over. There doesn't appear to be any other survivors.

He wanders the endless ocean from atop a piece of floating debris, and is haunted by the ghost of a former love, then tormented by an omnipresent voice calling itself "the dreamer." It's the dreamer who then reveals to the thief that his memories of his life have been distorted by time, isolation, and self-obsession.

The thief finally lets go of the past, and vows to move forward into whatever future this seemingly empty world has for him.

-------

This album took about three and a half years to go from a hazy concept to a fully realized record. Always off in the background to come back to between life and other musical projects. It was, by far, the most challenging musical project I've ever taken on, demanding a level of care and attention far beyond what I'm usually willing to put in.

I hope this record finds you. I hope it entertains and confounds. I hope it makes you happy, and also upsets you.
